a phiLOVEdelphia story: Photography Challenge

I mentioned early on that I didn’t give our photographer Gabe a shot list. While this is technically true, I did make a hefty request of him just before the wedding.

Although the photos would help us remember the day in its entirety, with approximately 200 people joining us from all across the country (and abroad), we wanted to remember them as well. Now, we did have a chance to spend time with many of our guests during cocktail hour and walking around during the meal, but I knew photos with each and every person would have been cumbersome.

All photos are by Philip Gabriel Photography.

Mr. Turkey and I asked Gabe if it would be feasible to take photos of each of our tables at the wedding. We had carefully chosen our seating chart and so each table would represent different groups of people that had been so special in our lives to this point – from former colleagues to family members.

Although Gabe didn’t think table shots would work well - as they would interrupt eating and some would require rearranging due to high centerpieces – he said he and Gabe2 would do their best.

When Mr. Turkey and I got our photo gallery, we were SO happy to see the photos they captured of our guests.

From reactions,

to fancy dancers.

From couple shots,

to family shots.

From big groups,

to mothers and sons.

All the groomsmen and their moms (they each have individual shots with their moms too)
And everything in between!

You may not believe this, but we are fairly certain (ok, I actually went back and checked) that there is at least one photo of each and every guest at our wedding.

Although we didn’t send them in thank you notes (like Mrs. Fox’s great idea), we have been sharing the gallery and some photos via email (and Facebook, of course!).

From this couple, upon seeing their shot: "What a pleasant surprise to "relive" that wonderful event
before starting our work day...thanks so much!"
I know it was a tough order, but our photographers delivered and we are just so grateful for these images.

Did you make an extra special request to your photographer?
