I absolutely love the posts where you see all the little (and big) details come together at a wedding. You've recently seen
Doe,
Elk and
Porcupine's days brought to life...and, if you don't mind, I'll take you through the Turkey details!
Whether still in the planning stages or already a Mrs., you understand the hours of planning and coordination it takes to come up with a theme and design for your big day. Along with the photos below, I will link back to the inspiration and vision that has been shared during my time blogging for the 'Bee.
However, before we get to the photos, I must give credit where credit is due. It was approximately
nine months before our wedding that we booked our
florist / event designer,
Evantine. They, along with the staff at the
Rittenhouse Hotel, are 100% responsible for taking our ideas and bringing them to life on May 12th (you know,
while we were primping). Mr. Turkey and I cannot possibly thank them enough.
With that, I'll stop teasing (although we did give you a
sneak peek) and get to the good stuff. Warning - lots of photos ahead!!

The escort card table gave guests a first look at our colors and flowers

Along with our
few moments alone in Rittenhouse Square, Mr. Turkey and I were also granted time at the start of cocktail hour to eat our yummy appetizers (more on that later!) and check out the ballroom. At the top of the grand staircase, there were navy curtains welcoming guests to the reception space...and creating a clear sign for
Lacroix diners to stay right! :)

Outside the ballroom was one of the two bars and lots of clear glass vases with candles and flowers (the bridesmaid bouquets occupied some of the vases). Already we were seeing our vision of
modern elegance coming to life and the anticipation built as Mr. Turkey and I approached the ballroom doors.
Where a
Philadelphia theme dominated our invitation suite, you'll see that our
wedding colors, along with lots of glass and light, dominated the design of our reception.
We chose lucite chivari chairs with navy cushions and textured tablecloths in navy and green (more navy tables than green)
 |
You can see the green tablecloth in the forefront here, with navy ones surrounding it |
The photos above also show you the blue uplighting that was added to the room, pulling all the colors together and contributing to the
black tie affair.
As for centerpieces, we chose a mix of high and low arrangements set in glass vases. Each table had multiple vases including both flowers and votive candles.

You can also see our table numbers above. We went
very simple here, with numbers written out using a font seen throughout our
paper products, but specifically matching the place cards.
Our place setting was also fairly simple, using clear charger plates with a silver ball lining and plain napkins*. The goal was to let the flowers and textured tablecloths play the starring role.
 |
The clear chargers also played nicely with the lucite chivari chairs and glass centerpieces |
The tiny blue and green box on the napkin contained our favor - artisan chocolates from the Rittenhouse. We thought about personalized boxes, but since they were blue and green, we didn't need to.
Oh, and the inside was personalized - recognize
the logo?
 |
Personal photo of our chocolates - one with caramel filling, one with raspberry filling |
The logo also made a bigger appearance...to date, all its manifestations had been relatively small, whether in
paper or chocolate.
 |
Do you see it? |
 |
Close up! |
That's right - we had a personalized dance floor! We opted to skip the parquet and instead chose a white dance floor accented with a "sticker". By the end of the night, the sticker had seen better days due to all the dancing...thanks to our kick a** band,
Jellyroll.
 |
Though they needed no extra embellishments, Evantine gave them a "grass" stage! (guest photo) |
The final detail I want to share with you was actually a surprise to me and Mr. Turkey. We had chosen a sweetheart table to simplify the seating chart (what? I'm being honest) and were very happy to see that our seats featured both colors (green tablecloth with navy overlay)...and had a clear view of the dance floor!

However, Evantine threw in a little something extra at the table...
As I mentioned early on, many people
thought we chose our colors based on our respective universities, so the added accent was definitely appropriate! And with large contingencies from both schools, it was a frequent topic of conversation and feature in photographs!
So, there you have it...the Turkey vision brought to life on May 12. Although we don't have an inspiration board to compare to (like
Honey), I think Evantine and the Rittenhouse met...and exceeded...all our expectations!
