a phiLOVEdelphia story: The Time Has Come (for Mr. Turkey)

Since I've already shared prep photos of the ladies, we'll start the pro pic recaps with the guys...mostly featuring my handsome groom. No, I'm not biased at all.

The focus of today's post is Mr. Turkey's wrist. Yes, his wrist.

You saw the beautiful wedding day gift I received from Mr. Turkey, but there was also a present for him on this special day. Brother Turkey was in charge of doing the gift exchange as soon as the photographer and videographer arrived.

A little switcheroo (personal photo)

I'll start with a little background on my gift for Mr. Turkey.

Reading the note I wrote him (at 5am that morning- don't judge)
He loves watches and my first big gift to him a few years ago was a Longines watch. Although not as well-known as some of the other luxury brands, he loved it because of the history - from a tie to the Philadelphia Exhibition in 1876 and providing timers at the first modern Olympics in 1892.

He thinks he figured it out by the size of the box
So, when it came to a wedding gift, I knew he'd want another watch (there had been far too many hints that he wanted a watch with a leather band).

Off with the old...on with the new!
And it couldn't just be any watch...there had to be meaning. After much research, the brand I chose for him was Hamilton.

Checking out his new wrist bling
Besides being founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on a plot of land granted by William Penn (Mr. Turkey's a PA boy through and through), Hamilton has a tie to the Navy.

Remember the story of BM M's gift?
Turns out that during World War II, Hamilton produced marine chronometers and deck watches to fill the needs of the US Navy.

Knowing my groom as I do...this seemed to be the watch brand for him. And I haven't been disappointed in my choice. He's hardly removed it since May 12*.

Even without knowing the history, the guys like the watch!
What did you gift your groom? Anyone else have to look through history to make their choice?

*Fear not, the Longines is not going unloved but rather has been sent away for restoration.
