You saw it in my last post, but I've decided to capture all our wedding weekend recaps under the header "a phiLOVEdelphia story". Cheesy, yes. But fitting for Mr. & Mrs. Turkey.
I'll start our recaps "officially" with the day before our wedding - Friday, May 11. However, I'd be remiss if I left out Thursday night. That's because the real kickoff happened the night before the day before the day (follow that?) at about 6:30pm when I was
finally guilted into shutting down my computer. The weekend had begun!
Turkey Mom, Dad & Brother were already in town and had reservations at
Parc for 7:15pm. Although the temptation to skip and get some additional wedding stuff done was there, I took
my own advice and stepped away.

Our table neighbor was nervous when he saw the sparkling macarons |
We woke up
still full from french onion soup excited Friday AM and started packing up for the weekend. Key word -
weekend. I apparently did not have that clarity when loading up.

You are not moving into the Rittenhouse Hotel, Turkey - I repeat, you are NOT moving in. |
Thank goodness
the dress was already at the
Rittenhouse Hotel or else we wouldn't have been able to fit everything in the car. Literally.
Upon arrival, I dropped everything in the bridal suite and headed up to the pool area, where the Rittenhouse's catering team had set up a lovely luncheon. Besides eating, the plan for afternoon ("
Nails & a Nosh") was simple...and stress-free. I'll let the photos do most of the talking.

Our spread: fruit, veggies, tea sandwiches... |

Needed a close-up on the sweets! |
|
The outdoor deck where we relaxed (only for a little while - didn't want tan lines!) |
It was wonderful to be pampered (
in case you were wondering, I stayed traditional with French Shellac) and I loved that we had a public area relatively to ourselves for the afternoon. I say
relatively because we had some awkward visitors just before we were about to head out.

This personal training session took place in the pool area rather than the gym |
My friends and I often say "things like this don't happen to other people" when put in odd situations. Well, when you're having a luncheon and start watching (and hearing) someone be stretched out in unnatural ways...that statement qualifies. Hilarious.
Personal training session aside, I was happy to have a low key afternoon with a small group before the masses arrived. Heading to the
rehearsal dinner blow out, I was refreshed, fed and free of nerves (no
angry stomach!). It was time to get the party started.

Surrounded by my best friends & Mom...life doesn't get much better |
How did you spend the "day before the day"? Any other brides planning relaxation and pampering?
