Happy Mother's Day

This Mother's Day is extra special. Why, you ask?

Last family photo without Mr. Turkey!
Well, yesterday was our wedding day* (we'll make the assumption it happened since I wrote this a few days ago - haha!) and, besides being a celebration of the love between me and Mr. Turkey, the day also marks the end of a very special journey in my relationship with Turkey Mom.

You see, Turkey Mom and I have always been close, but, despite the odds, the wedding brought us closer together.

Too often I feel as though you hear stories of brides at odds with their family (particularly mothers) as they work to plan a wedding. Some feel as though their mother is trying to make it their wedding, while others don't feel as though there's enough involvement.

I can honestly say that Turkey Mom was involved the exact.right.amount. From helping with venue preparations (both times) to booking our hotel blocks to coordinating transportation, she was a critical part of our planning.

Celebrating venue #2!
Having Turkey Mom available to make some of the phone calls and send some of the emails throughout our 14+ month engagement was invaluable. Mr. Turkey and I consider her a big part of the reason why our planning was relatively "easy" and everything remained under control.

What else? Well, she threw us a fabulous engagement party,

Turkey Mom's handiwork
made numerous trips to Philadelphia and New York,

At Kleinfeld's the weekend we purchased my dress!
became friends with all my bridesmaids,

With 3 members of the Fashionable 5
and even supported me in other endeavors!

With Turkey Mom & Dad after Brother Turkey and I finished the WDW Marathon Relay in January
So, on this first Mother's Day when I now have a second family, I just want to say THANK YOU.

Thank you for making this year what it was. Thank you for taking (and making) the time. Thank you for putting all your love into helping plan the day of Mr. Turkey and my dreams. Thank you a millions times over.

I love you, Turkey Mom.

Any other brides EXTRA grateful for their mothers this Mother's Day?

*Sidenote: YAY! I'm a Mrs!! Not sure if I'll have time to pop in before our honeymoon with a teaser pic (or 2!), but I have a number of posts scheduled while we're away...apologies in advance for not responding to comments for 2 weeks! See you on the flip side, Hive!
