A Fun...and Funny...Bachelorette Weekend!

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, the only event standing between us and the wedding was my bachelorette party...it always seemed so far away, but before I knew it, I was packing for a weekend in Florida

Repeat after me..."NO.TAN.LINES."
I arrived in Palm Beach without incident, where I hung out by myself at the airport, waiting for Bridesmaids C and D to arrive.

Not much going on at PBI Thursday night
When Bridesmaid C arrived, we headed to the long term parking lot to pick up the car. Bridesmaid D's mother had kindly left the "Florida car" there, unlocked, for us to use. Seemed easy enough....

Something's not quite right when your stuff is outside the car
Not so much...which brings us to funny event #1: being locked out of the car! The sherif's office had noticed the unlocked car and (so kindly) locked the door...which is where the keys were*. Oops! Luckily, AAA arrived shortly and we were on our way!

We had to display the note on the fridge!
We woke up Friday to a perfect Florida morning! The ladies arrived throughout the day and we were able to take advantage of the sun, pool and some adult beverages. And there were some fabulous decorations and treats for everyone.

A personalized Tervis Tumbler for everyone (in, funny enough, similar font to the bachelorette gifts!)
Cute cups and plates for lunch (see the bee?!?)
Even the wine got dressed up!
My gifts for the ladies
However, funny event #2 occurred relatively early in the day. After 17 years of wearing contacts, I had my first ripped lens. No worries, as I had brought 2 backup contacts. Um, not so much. I had (somehow) packed empty lens packages!!! So, less than 12 hours into my bachelorette party, I was relegated to glasses.

Showing off my new bag...and specs
In the greater scheme of things, it wasn't that big of a deal and I did just get new glasses, meaning that my prescription was up-to-date and I was able to see! However, I did try to take off my specs for some of the photos!

Not to be outdone, the weather decided it would be fun to mess with us (that's #3 if you're keeping count...and we all know things come in threes).

When friend C landed in Palm Beach, she was greeted by the torrential rain and the following forecast for the duration of the weekend.

C's flight was the last to land in PBI on Friday...they closed the airport because of storms!
So, instead of venturing outside and risk drowning (!), we decided to stay dry by spending Friday night in, catching up, enjoying drinks and some music on demand.

Almost forgot to mention the delicious cupcakes - courtesy of friends A, E & M, who were unable to make the weekend
On Saturday morning, we woke up expecting crazy, dangerous thunderstorms (these were the words of the TV weather people). However, it was just a bit overcast and the weather map didn't look too ominous, so we made our way to the beach!

Enjoying a frozen beverage in my cup...and my "beach veil"
We enjoyed a little cloudy time on the beach, drinks at the bar and lunch at the club (a surprise treat from Mr. Turkey!).

After the beach, we headed back to the house and enjoyed happy hour in the pool!

No glass in the pool = tumblers (with straws) full of "adult" ice tea lemonades
It was then time to get ourselves dressed up and ready for dinner. As we were out on the patio with some beverages, I was greeted by a surprise!

What was so funny that stopped me from eating my chip?
A clothesline of lingerie!!!
Knowing my love for bachelorette party lingerie (examples here), my friends generously bestowed some adorable (and sexy) gifts upon me.

My collection of undergarments may have just doubled!
After that fun (and a terrible showing by me in trying to guess who gave which gift), it was time for dinner. We headed to City Place in Palm Beach for dinner at City Cellar Wine Bar & Grill. Delicious meal, but questionable name, as it was on the second floor...perhaps they should have gone with City Attic?

With all the lovely ladies! (Surprise: I opted for a dress that had more color)
Following dinner, we headed to Lucille's Piano Bar at BB King's Blues Club. We started off just listening to the music and singing along, but when a table opened up in front, the night got a lot more fun.

We had to break in when someone requested Metallica (really? at a piano bar) and the singer said it would only take $7 to make them stop. I went up with $8 and asked for Lady Gaga.

"Make the Metallica stop, please"
Well, turns out if you go up on stage wearing a crown, veil and sash saying "Bride to Be", you will then be asked to return for a featured act. I became a participant in a rendition of "Joy to the World" (better known by the lyrics starting: "Jeremiah was a bullfrog...") with hand gestures.

First I was in front
Then I got to be "the hands"
Our night just went up from there...with many requests that went from Fun. to boy bands (you know I love me some boy bands). One might even say we monopolized the music selection...oops.

People may have been intimidated by our dance moves
We ended the weekend with some bagel sandwiches on Sunday morning, more time by the pool and, despite rain rolling in up north (where we were all headed), everyone made it home in one piece...despite a couple delays!

And though the less-than-perfect weather meant no significant tans...it also meant no sunburns (which we were worried about - I bought several bathing suits with tops that matched my dress to be extra careful)!

As you can see, the bachelorette weekend was an absolute BLAST. It was yet another reminder of how lucky I am to have such wonderful friends and how much I can't wait to celebrate with them again SO soon!

Did everything go right? No. Did it matter? Heck no. In fact, I think it was great to be reminded of both these facts just prior to the wedding. I've already prepped for rain on our wedding day and I will now be packing (pre-checked) extra lenses!

How did you celebrate your bachelorette? Did anything go "wrong"?

*I realize some of you may not "approve" of this plan, but it had worked, flawlessly, many times before!
