Besides the obligatory "thank you" after someone looks at my ring, though, I feel the need to tell a more detailed story...one which gives Mr. Turkey extra kudos (more than those necessary for making such a large purchase / commitment). Focus group of one, but I think he did a pretty amazing job and went a bit above and beyond. Like with the proposal story, I think it's his to tell, so I'll turn over the keyboard...
Hi all - it's Mr. Turkey. I'm back again. This is not going to be a regular thing, though. I'm going to leave wedding blogging to the experts. As for sports blogging, hmmm...I might have something there. But I digress.
A few months before we got engaged, I started researching 'engagement rings' online. Very quickly I realized that I didn't know what I was doing and transitioned to something that I am much better at - procrastinating online. Luckily for me, on a family trip to Disney World, I was able to sneak away from Miss Turkey long enough to ask both her parents for some assistance or advice. It sure made it easy for me that they responded (...and I am paraphrasing) "go with your gut and find a jeweler that you trust."
That sounded easy enough, however, I soon found out that no ring had all of the traits that I knew would be right for Miss Turkey. I wanted one piece from this ring, another trait from that ring, etc. Once again I was lucky enough that her parents had a family jeweler in NY that they have been going to for the past few decades. After one email and a quick call, he basically took all the traits I wanted and combined them into my own custom engagement ring!
After a little maneuvering of the truth with Miss Turkey, I was able to arrange for a trip up to upstate NY to pick up the ring while she thought I was visiting friends in NYC. I am still not sure how she didn't find out (because there isn't much that gets by Miss Turkey), but the trip was flawless, along with the ring. Now, considering the ring was probably worth more than the sum of all my consumer expenses in life to that point, I didn't let it out of my sight until I got back to my apartment in Philadelphia...which meant I basically spent the rest of the weekend in NY carrying around an engagement ring like a kid carries his blankie (not that I'd know anything about that).

So, without further ado, I'll end with some ring shots for you all to ooh and ahh over (I hear that happens).
Miss Turkey had a bit of a photo shoot with the ring when we got to NYC |
The goal was to show off the side channel set diamonds |
Perhaps you'd like to see one on her hand??

Anyone have a unique story behind their ring that they enjoy sharing?
*At least you hope it's sparkly...just me, or does anyone else find themselves extremely preoccupied with ensuring that their ring is squeaky clean at all times? Chase thinks it's unnecessary to worry and that a little fingerprint now and then never hurt anyone. I think I need a professional buffer machine in my bathroom.
