Why am I here?

I hear the questions running through your head...why do you need a second blog? Why start a wedding blog when you already have a perfectly good site over at Rachel-something? You know, the place where there are a modest number of readers, few online comments and houses a glorified (virtual) cookbook. Why not use that site?

I'll tell you why.

For my mom
She is very involved in the wedding details (as I want her to be!) but is not in Philadelphia. I'm not able to meet up with her on the weekend and show magazine clippings or swatches. I wanted a way to share inspiration and ideas in an easy-to-review / reference format. She doesn't have the benefit of gmail's labels, after all. And hey, if I can teach her to comment, we might be onto something!

For Chase
He'd go crazy if I was constantly showing him images and asking his opinion on minutiae. He would prefer if I waited to get his opinion when it's "A or B" versus "oooh I might like this centerpiece if we go for predominantly green. But if we go with predominantly blue...or yellow...I don't know, what do you think?" I know exactly what he's thinking - "Leave me to my fantasy baseball, please."

For other brides (who might stumble upon this URL)

I've found inspiration both on personal blogs (like this) and more "professional" sites (like this). When it comes to the former, it's most helpful when the blog is only wedding related. Therefore, when you're browsing, you can follow specific tags (e.g. bridesmaid) and not have to assess whether it's relevant (e.g. photography). This is especially true if they're no longer blogging (read: married). If you look at my personal blog, there are already a TON of historic tags. It would be impossible for someone to segment out the wedding-only entries.

For me
There are months until our wedding and many decisions yet to be made. The chances of me changing my mind on details are VERY high. See comment above about easy-to-review / reference format. See comment about about getting indecision out of my system. I think it will be helpful (and interesting) to see the evolution of thinking over time. Who knows, after version 75, I may find that I really liked version 1 best!

Why did you start a wedding blog?
