On Wearing White

This post could also be titled "How Many is Too Many?"

Several fellow Bees (Fox, Mink, Uni and more) have spoken about wearing "other" white dresses (you know, besides THE white dress) and I was planning to wait a bit to share my thoughts / story, but some recent emails told me it was the right time.

(Warning: a very photo-heavy post)

You see, I decided very early on in our engagement that I wanted to wear white to all the "major" wedding events. I had a few white dresses floating around from prior uses, but I couldn't help myself from looking at any and all white (and white-ish) when shopping. The same applied to Turkey Mom...some might say she created a monster by feeding my habit.

A few dresses have been worn so far (and been shown on the blog). First, the engagement party:

With Turkey Brother, Mom, me, Mr. Turkey & Turkey Dad (dress by Taylor, belt by J. Crew)
And next, the PA shower

BM C, BM D, me & MOH J on a little trip to our college campus before the shower (dress by BCBG)
However, there are a LOT more events on the horizon...and I seem to have accumulated quite a collection of white dresses to work with.

My "Fashionista" bridal shower is up next, and I think I've decided on the dress below, as I think it's the most trendy and unique of all those I own (today, at least). What do you think?

Another BCBG (comes with straps, if needed) - purchased several years ago
The dress in action - with MOH J and BM M (and a tan that I won't have in March)
Shortly after the shower is the bachelorette in Florida. I blame Gilt for these next few dresses, as they had a major sale this fall on Tart and I collected some super cute white items for a STEAL.

Tart Greta Maxi - it's long enough, too!
Tart Veronica dress - fun for a night out on the town
Tart Tail romper - yes, I bought a romper. And I think it's cute (hangs head in shame)
I think any of these could also work for our Hawaiian honeymoon too, don't you agree? (like Mrs. Mole before me, I really enjoyed shopping for summery clothes in cool weather).

Am I done yet? Yeah, no. There are several other dresses in my closet that aren't 100% "assigned" to wedding events (though I have a pretty good idea about most).

A dress from the Banana Republic Mad Men collection (bought this fall)
Thinking about this for Friday afternoon before the wedding or perhaps the newlywed brunch
Dress from White House - Black Market (several years old)
A real life photo of the above - looks much better than on the hanger!
Thinking this dress will come on the honeymoon, but might be other options
Eliza J dress from Lord & Taylor (purchased last summer)
This is my rehearsal dinner dress...just needs a little tailoring
Newest purchase (thanks, Turkey Mom) - a Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique at Marshalls
This is the front runner for the newlywed brunch
Since your eyes are probably burning from all the white...I'll end with a slight confession. I missed white for one event. FMIL Turkey's friends threw me a luncheon when we were down visiting in Florida, but I didn't really know much about the details, so I skipped the white and went with a dress in (close to) our wedding colors instead.

With friend L - dress by Anthropologie (from several years ago)

So, there you have it...my collection of (probably way too many) white dresses. However, I am very excited to stick to my plan (above fail notwithstanding) and excited to put these all to use. After all, a girl only gets married once - why not take advantage of all the cute white out there and the ability to break the Memorial Day - Labor Day rule?

Anyone else going for a "white out" in their wedding event attire? And if you see any cute white dresses out there, please share some links!! (not that I'm still looking...)
