Picture Love

This is a bit out of order, but since I'm about to tell you about our engagement session, it probably makes sense to tell you about our photographer (you know, the one taking the pictures).

Although I haven't talked at all about photography, it was something that was very important to us. I LOVE pictures and am known for always having a camera with me (seriously - every day). In fact, in college, many of my girlfriends didn't have cameras since they knew I would be prepared.

My love of photography led me to peruse many blogs and websites after our engagement. Too many to even remember. I didn't even keep track, to be honest. Yes, I'm a terrible blogger.

However, at some point I stumbled upon Philip Gabriel Photography...and never looked back. Although I spoke to several other photographers before making the final decision, it wasn't really a comparison.

I loved that the photos captured moments,

all those little details,

and, of course, the photos you want from your wedding day.

More than any other website I browsed, I felt like the photos felt...real. Even Mr. Turkey noticed a difference - "they look like regular people," he said. "That's how I want to look." So, our photo love was clear, but what about the repoire?

I don't remember how long I spoke with Gabe the first time, but it was definitely longer than an introduction call probably should be. He was extremely energetic, fun to talk to and seemed to "get us". I told Mr. Turkey about our conversation and how he understood "guys don't do photography" ... thus, the deal was sealed. In MARCH.

Mr. Turkey and I didn't actually meet Gabe in person until August, when we went to his studio to discuss plans for engagement pictures and look at some album styles. It was, again, probably a longer meeting than had been intended, but we took that as a good sign. We set our engagement session date for October and, believe it or not, even Mr. Turkey was a little excited (emphasis on little, but hey, baby steps).

How did you do your photography search? Did you find something you love and never look back?
