Two...shower bride

There are two dress brides and two shoe brides, but I was lucky enough to be a two shower bride! Due to travel schedules during the winter, Mr. Turkey's cousins were kind enough to throw me a bridal shower this fall (that is why we registered so early).

How beautiful are these invitations?

I was very excited about this event, but also a little nervous*. Despite my years performing in front of people, for some reason, in smaller settings, when I'm the center of attention, I get super nervous.

For comedic interlude...a '90s me in a production of "The Music Man"
You know you love the eyeshadow
Back to the bridal shower...despite the butterflies, I had nothing to be nervous about. It was an absolutely lovely event (hosted at Mr. Turkey's mom's beautiful home) and it made me feel even more welcomed into Mr. Turkey's family. I'd like to share some of the details with you all.

Warning - photo heavy! (Vintage-y photos with rounded edges courtesy of Mr. Turkey's cousin E - love her photos; all other courtesy of Mom)

Birdcage filled with favors - you'll see this again :)
The favors - chocolate SHOES!

The very yummy cake!
Guess the number of candies in the shoe
(Yes, that is a replica of the SATC shoe; no, they are NOT mine)
So, I'm sure you're getting that the theme of the shower was shoes. Clearly my soon-to-be cousins get me! You'll hear more about my love of shoes in another post. I have to say, I think it's really fun when a shower has a theme and the hostesses did a wonderful job tying it all together.

There was also a delicious brunch,

We love food!
some fun bride and groom details (like this set of bobble heads),

I think Mr. Turkey looks really nice with the blue trim tux
and, of course, some incredibly thoughtful gifts (apparently my new last name / monogram was a second theme).

A personalized cooking dish - I had never seen this before, but plan to "borrow" the idea for future gifts!
Beautiful personalized hanger (for the dress!) from Bridesmaids C & Bridesmaid D
Ignore my face. Seriously, what am I doing?
However, there were two details that made the shower extra special, in my opinion.

The first was a game where Turkey Cousin M asked me a series of questions throughout the gift opening and I had to guess what Mr. Turkey's answer would be. Yes, this is typical of many showers, but here, there was a twist. Instead of just reading back an answer, they had him on video!

Mr. Turkey - movie star
If you're interested in the questions they asked, let me know!
We're having some technical difficulties uploading the videos, so unfortunately I can't share those with you right now :(

I must say, the video answers made this game that much more fun because, oddly enough, a couple times Mr. Turkey and I gave the exact.same.answer. We're talking verbatim. Everyone was highly amused (and I was embarrassed). I definitely plan to "borrow" this for a future bridal shower.

My absolute favorite detail, though, is one that really reinforced the part of the shower that made me feel most "welcome". Each of the cousins wrote a little something about me in a frame and spread them around the house. Waterproof mascara was my friend that day, ladies.

Some of the notes were funny, others were adorable (especially those by the younger cousins), but they all were so kind and heartfelt. This will be the 3rd thing I "borrow".

I loved the part about competitive spirit - so true in Mr. Turkey's family (fantasy football is INTENSE)

What Cousin A failed to mention is that SHE has amazing shoes
This might be my favorite.
Good to remind Mr. Turkey every now and then that I make him "even more fun"
With the hostesses.
SO lucky to call these ladies family in just a few short months
Oh, and I couldn't do a shower recap without sharing the beautiful bow bouquet!

Any other two shower brides out there? Did you see any details at your own shower that you planned to "borrow"?

*In a separate post, I'll share some tips for bridal showers based on my experience. Yes, it may seem cut and dry, but I have to say, there are definitely some things I'm glad I know for my next shower (and will make adjustments)!
